Alpha Center

The Alpha Center is a non-profit Christian counseling 
center serving residents of north Alabama, southern Tennessee, and eastern Mississippi. The qualified counselors at the
 Alpha Center are professionally trained and dedicated to 
meeting the needs of clients. Because of their qualifications
 and experiences, counselors can offer a wide variety of 
services. Therapeutic services are available in the following areas:

Staff
Rosemary Snodgrass, Ed.D., LPC, NCC.
Dr. Snodgrass serves as the director of the Alpha Center. Experienced in working with children and adolescents as well as adults, Dr. Snodgrass has been in school counseling for 25 years and in private practice for six years.

Bill Bagents
Bill Bagents has a Master’s degree in Counseling from Auburn University. He has counseled clients for 20 years in his work as a minister, specializing in grief/loss and in relationship issues. He is also the Vice President for Academics at Heritage Christian University.

Betty Hamblen
Betty Hamblen has a Master’s degree in Counseling for the University of North Alabama. She specializes in premarital, divorce, and remarriage issues, and is a national speaker/trainer.

Philosophy

Counselors at the Alpha Center subscribe to the following
 beliefs:

• We believe in the truth of Scripture and in the power of prayer.
• 
We believe in the dignity and worth of each individual.

• We believe that most adults have responsibility and accountability for their own actions and decisions.

• We believe that a counselor ’s responsibility is to help clients
 clarify, assess, explore, and establish goals for growth and 
change.

• We believe in and adhere to the Code of Ethics of the American Counseling Association.

Fees

The Alpha Center exists to provide comfort and healing at an
 affordable fee for each client. Rates are established for 
individual counselors who will discuss fees with their clients.

Other Information

Clients who do not specify a therapist are assigned to the first
 available counselor who specializes in that client ’s relevant
 problem area.
 For clients who need special services outside the expertise of
 Alpha Center counselors, the Alpha Center refers to Shoals
 area professionals. Counselors will also assist in locating
 appropriate professionals for clients who live outside the
 Shoals area and need specialized services.

Alpha Center counselors are available as speakers for
 community, church, and civic groups on a variety of
 counseling topics.

Additional Services

The Alpha Center offers workshops and classes on
 specialized topics in a group setting. These are presented
 periodically throughout the year or may be customized for
 presentation to your specific group.
 Counselors offer multi-session workshops on the following subjects:

• Learning to Control Emotions
• Handling Life ’s Transitions
• Dealing with Grief and Loss
• Active Parenting (parents of children ages 2-10)

• Active Parenting (parents of teenagers)

• Improving Your Marriage
• Planning for Marriage
